A 59-year-old man was struck by an oncoming car as he was crossing eastbound Putty Hill Avenue last week. The man was rushed to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries following the collision.

According to news reports, the vehicle that hit him was a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country van driven by a 40-year-old Nottingham woman.  She was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital.

According to police, the driver saw the man and attempted to swerve, but was unsuccessful in avoiding a collision.  She struck the man with her van at full speed.  Charges are currently pending against the woman, and police are investigating further.
