Four Pedestrians Struck in Glen Burnie

by Monty Yolles on February 6, 2013

Emergency officials responded to an accident on Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie on January 10, 2013.  Two adults and two minors were walking when they were struck by a vehicle.  The companions were crossing the on-ramp in an area that is not well lit when the accident occurred.  All four were transported to Shock Trauma for treatment.  The three male victims have been released, and the female is listed in stable condition at last report.

Responders were surprised to find four victims in one incident.  Anne Arundel County Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Thompson commented, “This is very unusual. You might get something like this in a rare situation in a crowd gathering, but to have four pedestrians going down the road and all four get struck, that’s very unusual.” Though it is not known whether the driver of the vehicle was driving negligently, accidents involving pedestrians and careless or distracted drivers are far too common.
