Maryland State Police identified the victim of a recent car wreck involving a head-on collision of two vehicles.  The accident occurred on Md. 26, east of Frederick City close to the Carroll County line.

According to authorities, Joseph Klausmeyer, a 49-year-old man, was traveling westbound on Md. 26 around 6:30 a.m. in his Saturn when a Jeep Cherokee crossed the center line and collided with him head-on. The Jeep was driven by 24 year old Stephen Hardesty Jr. of Sykesville.

Hardesty was taken to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, and is listed in serious but stable condition. The investigation is currently under way, and it is unknown whether charges will be filed against Hardesty.
