Lives Lost in Car Crash

Five Maryland families will never be the same following a traffic accident on November 17, 2012 in Street, Maryland that claimed the lives of Tyler Anderson, Shawn Ponton and Alexzandria McDowell, and critically injured Theresa Owensby and David Clark.

Authorities say all five young people were passengers in a 2008 Mazda 3.  They were traveling east onProspect Roadwhen the vehicle left the road, went airborne and struck a tree. The car broke in half upon impact and one section of the vehicle fell “into a deep ravine and was about 100 feet from the other half of the car,” police said.

A Maryland State Police helicopter was called in to assist with medical transport, according to a state police spokesman.  Alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the accident, but authorities are still trying to piece together clues to determine the cause of the wreck.

Whether the cause of the accident was driver error, inclement road conditions, or a problem with the vehicle, the damage is done.  Nonetheless, it is normal for families to want to know why the accident happened in the first place.  While no amount of recompense can turn back time, the victims and families may be entitled to monetary compensation for the injuries sustained and the costs of medical care or for the loss of their loved ones.
