Two more tractor trailer wrecks on Maryland roadways

Maryland 18-Wheeler Accidents

Emergency personnel recently responded to two more traffic accidents involving 18-wheelers in Montgomery County, Maryland on December 21, 2012.  On the Inner Loop near Route 355 a tractor trailer jack-knifed, blocking two lanes of traffic. A few hours later, an 18-wheeler overturned causing the closure of all northbound lanes of I-270.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. Both accidents occurred in the early morning hours before the rush hour commenced. We are especially thankful that these accidents did not occur during the day, especially during the holiday season when roads are even more congested than usual.

An 18-wheeler jackknifes when the trailer skids around to one side of the tractor.  An 18-wheeler cannot recover from a severe jackknife and must be hauled away.  The most common cause of 18-wheelers rolling over is the driver trying to navigate a curve too fast. In either case, driver negligence is the likely cause. If you or someone you know has been injured in an accident involving an 18-wheeler, contact the Yolles Legal Group today.
