Update on the Meningitis Outbreak

Meningitis Outbreak Update

We recently reported that some lawsuits had been filed regarding the deadly meningitis outbreak that originated from contaminated steroid injections prepared at the New England Compounding Center.  Sadly, we have learned of a second death in Maryland believed to be the result of the meningitis outbreak.  In all, 25 people in Maryland are believed to have been infected by the contaminated injections.

Nationwide, the number of reported cases is up to 590, with 37 resulting in loss of life.  An estimated 14,000 patients are believed to have received the tainted injections, so we expect the number of people adversely affected will continue to rise.

Thankfully, as we reported before, fungal meningitis is not transmitted from person to person, and only patients who received the steroid injections are considered to be at risk.

If you or a family member has been injured by a defective drug, faulty product, or accident, you may be eligible to receive compensation if the injury was caused by negligence or recklessness of another person or business.
